What is the ideal toad? 4wd?, Automatic or Manual? How does one keep the odometer in neutral? As a newbie, I would like to keep it simple!

  1. bbwood: I am also looking for a tow vehicle. Is there a list somewhere of what older model vehicles can be towed 4 wheels down?
  2. MikeCarolCA: I tow a Toyota Rav 4 automatic. Had to add an after market Remco Transmission pump. I had a pro install. Works great and the car tows well. Good luck

I tow a 2006 Pontiac G-6. If you put it in neutral and pull one 30 amp fuse and it tells you which one you will not add miles to the odometer. Most of the Pontiac's and some of the Chevy's have transmissions that can be towed without harming the tranny. I did have a pro install my tow bar and brake system.

We boutht a 2008 Saturn Vue and it tows 4 down, no pump no modifications. Just remove a fuse, leave the key in "accs" and go. Doesnt add mileage. Check older Saturns, tow the same way

A Jeep Wrangler is the perfect towed vehicle. Flat tows with the shift of a lever, no problem with speedo, and its small size fits perfectly in tight vacation parking areas and campgrounds. Have towed one for ten years and never had a problem.
