I have a Onan NH gen set. It puts out 150v at 60 cycles. Is there a way to bench test the regulator?
Is it the gen set regulator or control board and can they be tested?

You didn’t indicate the Specification Letter of your Onan NH genset. I’m assuming that you are referring to a NHE Onan plant. Never-the-less in the service manual it is simple and to the point. “AC Output Voltage Too Low or Too High ~ Item #4 If generator frequency (60 Hertz) is within specified limits but voltage is incorrect, voltage regulator is defective. Replace the Voltage Regulator. Hope this helps…. Giovanni

the answer is yes the regulator can be checked with a diode testor. i found a web site witch i will go and look up again and post it for you. be sure NOT to run it too much with the voltage that high as you will damage your electrical system!
